There is that vivid sky again! Wonderful Mal! Great balanced composition, perfect toning! I'm glad you kept the little pile...
/Thomas
Mal Smart  thank you very much Thomas. That little pile of stones caused me quite a lot of mental anguish before taking this one, should they stay or go, very glad to hear your opinion Thomas. mal

All the best Anne Lene
Mal Smart  Thank you Miss A, How is the exhibition going? mal
Anne Lene Baanrud  Thank you Mal, the exhibit is going well, but i am praying for better weather because it has been rainy and windy, and since you have to travel to it by boat neither of those weather conditions are good. But today the forcast for the week is lovely. ;)

All the best Anne Lene
Mal Smart  Good luck with everything Anne Lene, glad to hear that all is well. mal

Awesome once again Mal ... love the nebula effect of the water and all those details on the rocks - great structures ... the overall mood of this shot is just Wow!
Mal Smart  many thanks, I was talking to someone the other day about different subject material but I love the ocean, so that will be hard. all the best. mal

Was sure it was yours in screening - great shot.
Craig Martin  By the way, I particularly like the title for it, as the long-exposure of the water makes it look like it is steaming, evoking an impresson of the primordial soup of millions of years ago from which life emerged...
Mal Smart  Many thanks Craig, very pleased that you see it that way, its exactly what I was trying to achieve. I'm often reminded of the timeless quality of the ocean and how insignificant I am on the planet, when photographing the sea. Thank you and all the best. mal

Great image Mal. I've got to get out shooting not done a single image since the Lakes and it's get to me :( .... You just keep posting these to make me feel worse don't you ;)
Mal Smart  I go through long periods of photographic inactivity to Andrew, it is frustrating at times. Anyway September! mal

U
Mal Smart  many thanks Ulf, I liked this one, maybe time for me to move away from the sea though! lol. mal
Ulf Börjesson  That might be hard though, since you live right next to it :)
Mal Smart  True! lol, I shall move to the heartland of deepest Russia!..)))

A trace of life indeed. I wonder where that cairn will lead us. Good work, Mal!
Mal Smart  I wondered who had put it there to, this location was way off the beaten track. Cheers Martin. mal

That little stack of rocks is just so adorable in an otherwise heavy shot and it completely changes the tone of it for me, amazing isn't it how such a small thing in an image can do that. Of course the title gives it away... :)
Mal Smart  I just mentioned to Codrin that I nearly removed the little pile before taking the shot but I'm glad that I resisted in the end. all the best T. mal

A magical touch! What an incredible atmosphere!
Mal Smart  Thank you Alberto, it felt like a magical place that day, there were no people only the little pile of rocks that someone had left. all the best. mal

Nice one, comes together really well. Something I've been wanting to have a go at for the last 20 years, but somehow never got round to it!

Outstanding image, Mal! Great, great work...love that trace of life! Love it!
all the best
Codrin
ps next week I'll have a ND filter, I will have no sea or ocean around me, but I'll find something :-)
Mal Smart  I nearly removed the little rocks before taking the shot, I'm glad that I did not now. Can't wait to see what you do with some long exposure stuff Codrin. mal
Codrin Lupei  ...I guess it's not much more difficult than to shoot through binoculars! :-) We'll see!
cheers!
Codrin
Mal Smart  remember that the filter goes on the front of the camera Codrin, fitting it on the view finder is no good at all!.....;)))))
Codrin Lupei  LOL
I just hope to not forgett this...otherwise...:-))))
Mal Smart  and try dot to drop it on rocks smashing the glass, like I did 20 mins after this shot was taken!... I nearly cried! lol
Codrin Lupei  :-( It's not plastic? I was sure it's made of plastic! Oh my, I'm pretty scared now! lol
Mal Smart  it was my glass cokin polarizer that I dropped, shattered into a hundred pieces! lol, but I'm over it now!
Codrin Lupei  I still hope that mine will be 'plastic made'. :-) Thanks for the help, my friend, probably I'll bother you with some more questions when I'll start using it!
cheers!
Codrin

Mal you have that ND filter just singing mate!
Mal Smart  funny that you mention the filter Scott, I was removing a polarizer in order to fit a 10 stop ND and dropped it onto a rock and smashed it, lol! Maybe God was telling me to try something else!... Cheers Scott. mal
Scott Crouse  Oh no!!! Time to move on to something new? Cheers - Scott.
Mal Smart  I need to broaden my horizons a little with regard to subject material Scott, for a short time any way, lol! cheers. mal

another one! what a great shot Mal. i'm trying to learn from you but ... it's really difficult :)
Mal Smart  I think that it will be the last of the sea stuff for a while Giorgio, I need to find some new and different material. Many thanks and all the best. mal
