What at first appears to be a simple statement actually is a very larger than life photograph. He reminds me a little of Mr. Bean! :) Regards, Phyllis
gerard sexton  Phyllis once again thanks. Here is is all about the "uniform" & the implied lonliness. Also we know nothing about this guy who he is & what he does so we can only make guesses & thats the bit I like. I would love to bump into him again & to engage him in a conversation to just see how far out my typically stereotypical ideas are! Probably plays in a rock & roll band at the weekends!

one of the best
gerard sexton  This man spent two days at least in the same place (sure just for his lunch) but it was the least likely place you can imagine to take such an image. I still go back to see if he returns. Thats enough for me!

Another great one ; I'm impressed by your portfolio.
gerard sexton  Envers encore merci!

Stunning picture, it's technically perfect, as well as your composition and the mood coming from it. Also i love the cold tones you gave it!
Cheers Sven
gerard sexton  sven thanks high praise indeed i am honoured you say so. i was conscious at the time of taking this how different we all are! how our value systems & lifes experiences mould our outward appearance as well as our inner selves. to dress so uniformly & precisely suggests to me a lot about this person.

this looks very british somehow...seems to be quite cold;-)
a very good composition and crop, even the colors are perfectly fitting
gerard sexton  you are correct gundula yes so british right down to the british military style polished shoes...thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. it is appreciated.

I'm enthralled by this photo, but I also wonder... how come you can get this size while if I keep within the limits I only get THIS size:

Marvelous; moody, serene. The single contemplative figure, an absolute photographic CLASSIC. His feet seem odd, as well, as though shoes are on wrong feet, or are the legs crossed, causing me such visual mystery?? Spot on, Gerard.
gerard sexton  thanks laura fine praise indeed! that i am honoured to receive from anuone but from someone with it appears a deep & long association with this art it means so much more. funny you noticed the shoes no the legs are in a normal position though yes he seems pigeon toed or something like that. what i noticed apart his quirky hat was how all these different elements came together & the highly polished shoes and sharp creased trousers suggested a military background. funny i was lucky my first attempt (yes i got two chances) was hurried & slightly soft poor aperture/speed selection. i went back the next day & to my amazement he was there again like billy no mates as if he had been there all night like a statue sitting alone reading his paper. its a shame i cannot sell this in most cases even if i "steal" the shot i will go & talk to the person & tell them i have taken or am about to take their picture. in this case i just didn't want to disturb the magic. as you say classic never to be repeated! thanks again.

the tone is given with the monochromic choice.. closed ears , just a glance fixed on his newspapers.. frame accentuates the isolation prejudice.. bravo..
