It is to much texture for me too, especially under the table, and the window but I love it, very sensual, touching photo, great job
King Douglas  Thank you, Monika.

My only beef with this design?
These hangers ( paintings ?) on the wall, behind the couple's heads.
If only the space in between them was wider to have the heads against clear background.

Other than that - a quite interesting production.
King Douglas  Hi, Polonaise,

If that's your only beef, than you are easier to please than I am. The wall hangings are essential elements in this photo and I'm sure they could be positioned better. However, a bigger problem may be revealed if I move the wall hangings, especially the one behind the woman's head because of her profile. She is a very beautiful woman of whom I've found the worst possible perspective, her profile when her head is thrown back as it is here.

You've inspired me to work on this photo, which I've always liked, but have been unhappy with. Now that I've stepped away from it for more than a year, I think I may be able to approach it with a fresh perspective.

Thanks again for your comments.

Great tenderness, and the texture gives a modest veil (un voile pudique) at the scene. Like a lot King !

King Douglas  I think I've attempted before to thank you for your comment. I think the "reply" function on this page may be broken.

In any case, your remarks are very much appreciated.

This is like peeking through a window ,... it's so intimate. Very sensual. Private. There is an old-fashion-feel over it. Almost too much texture. But after I have coming back to this image several times I think the mood is so strong that the overlay texture couldn't "kill" it. ;)
.
It's beautiful! Touching and tender!
King Douglas  Thank you, Anna. I am so pleased that you like this.

King, I try to understand all of your words in your comment..and for me lot of feeling in this photograph.. it looks like a 1930 picture ( movements of your two models, colors, décoration on table, and wall..) But, I ask me, if post processing is not too much, because the picture, lonely, is very nice..Often, I love simplicity, I know ;);)
King Douglas  Yes, I agree that the post processing is probably too much. Like an artist working on a oil painting in the studio, I tend to dabble with this image over time.

I appreciate all the positive comments.I think I will make another effort to make this what I want it to be and

This is an outstanding image, King! I don't know what more could be said, sorry! Love it!
all the best
Codrin
King Douglas  Thank you, Codrin. As Angela suggested, I may simply be too close to it. I do think, if nothing else, the post processing could be more subtle. I'm still learning how to create textures and this processing was done long ago.

For me - beautiful!
King Douglas  Thank you, Carla.
King, it is a beautiful image. I think you are to close to it to see the detail in her face is not missed my us. The feeling the image oozes is what holds are attention.
If you want more detail in her face- burn in the profile very light in ps. I don't think it would take much work at all.
I love this work.
King Douglas  Thank you, Angela. I'm sure I *am* too close to this image. I appreciate your remarks.

Folks,
I agree with all the criticisms of this image. I had high hopes for it when I original took the photo, but found many weaknesses in the original, the most pronounced of which is still visible...the woman's face is poorly lit and poorly defined. She is an attractive woman, but her neck seem blends with her chin and jaw line in a most unattractive way.

I'm a bit sentimental about this photo because the young woman in the photo was a dear friend who died not long after this photo was taken. As we all know, sentiment is the worst reason to like a photo. I'm struggled with this over time to try to make something of it, but I remain disappointed, mainly because of my failure to capture her face in a way that does her justice.

On the other hand, thanks for all the compliments and kind remarks, which I will be responding to individually.

Great shot King. As said, very sensual, one can feel the enjoyment. The light from the window is beautiful. Can't figure out what it is but I really like the way the stillife items add to the mood. I'm thinking of the very nice vase and the tablecloth. The latter adds great to the composition and the flow in the picture.
Is the structure from postprocessing or vintage of the negative? I like the way it adds to the mood of the image, but IMO, if added in pp, could be tuned down a nudge.
Very nice work King, impressed in how you manage to catch this intimate scene in such a nice way.
/Thomas
King Douglas  Thank you, Thomas. The original of this was a 4'x5" color transparency. I had filtered the lens to get the window light to flare a bit. I don't know if you read my "apologia," (posted here after your comment) but I admit that the post processing is overkill. I created this long before I joined OE and learned from the great photographers here how to do this kind of thing in a more subtle and appropriate fashion.

Great camera te sinar P 4x5
King Douglas  Thanks, Patrick. Yes, the Sinar P is a great view camera and the 210mm Schneidar Symmar f5.6 is a great lens...I've done everything I can to hide those facts in this image, though, LOL. :>)
