Winchester Cathedral
I am fascinated by this view - often seen, but not always in great detail. This church is the largest Gothic church in Europe and its 900 year history is remarkable

Scott Lanphere  Thanks Mal! Like this all the time? Hmmmm, I am not sure, I have only been there once. It was in the morning. I would gather it is pretty impressive at night.

Great picture!
According to Wikipedia, the largest gothic cathedral is the Seville Cathedral, followed by the Milan Cathedral and the Cologne Cathedral.
But anyway, it's an impressive view.
Scott Lanphere  Ah, you have caught me out on a technicality. According to several sources, and not the least of which Wikipedia, "Winchester Cathedral at Winchester in Hampshire is one of the largest cathedrals in England, with the longest nave and overall length of any Gothic cathedral in Europe." So, I stand corrected - it is the longest. Thanks for this. Also, I am pleased you like it. All the best to you.

I'm stupefied. This is fantastic, very unusual and very beautiful. I can't figure out what church this is, and Google images isn't helping. I don't think I've been inside this church, but I very much want to stand on the spot where you positioned your camera and simply look up. York Minster? Cologne? Come on, don't keep it a secret.
Scott Lanphere  Hello King, Wow, thank you so much. This place was just a mystery to me as well until I went out to shoot some landscapes about 40 miles from where I live and decided to visit this little town called Winchester to see if I could score a decent cup of coffee. From the outside, the cathedral did not look that impressive, but it had a lovely legend behind it and we decided to go inside. To say a whole new world greeted us is an understatement. So, just 45 miles from London, this little jewel awaits your visit.
King Douglas  It's now on my "must see" list for my next trip to England, which will be as soon as the dollar reaches parity with the pound. :>)
...unless I go on business.
