I just read Ursula's comment and I always thought you strived for beautiful, artistic, moving images. Just because a fiqure is photographed in non fashion way does not mean that it is not Beautiful! You do not have to be classically beautiful as a person/model/whatever to make a beautiful image. I hope you know that your imagery is beautiful in a textural, feeling, coloring, compostional way. Which makes it more important and artistic than a normal portrait with hair fixed and eyes perfect. That is what your imagery is about. So, Sorry your work is beautiful. Hope you understand that it can be both. Great job, in this image.

I don't have anything against beautiful pictures*, but I don't want to make it. I just want some feeling, that something happens when people see my photographs (maybe I'll send on OE a petition : "No more shiny eyes!", huhu). Probably it doesn't often work but if one of mine can do this...
I don't know if my stuff deserve "beautiful" but I'm proud and happy when some people tells me that!
* : I believe I just don't know to do that...

Angela Bacon-Kidwell But, images that are full of emotion are beautiful. That is my point. To feel is a beautiful experience because so many people walk through life in a blurry gaze and never feel a thing. We create work because we feel and so the images we create (when successful) are beautiful because of that particular feeling. Happy, sad, mad, angry, depressed- it is all beautiful feelings. I don't think you can run from that. Congrats on the front page. Well deserved and it looks fantastic. Take care. Angela

I know you don't like to make "beautiful" images, so I hope you are not offended if I say that this is a very beautiful image. It has a lot of feeling, and it is designed so well with the very clear courtain in front, and the slightly obscured or not quite so clear face behind it, where the eyes are just black holes. Good work.

envers It was aR who said something like "I don't want to make beautiful pictures". But I understand this confusion so well! In fact, her quote could be mine.
And I'm not offended at all : I don't want anything about plastic beauty, I just want something which can remove a little or tell something. What "something", I never know, but something.
I often turn eyes into black holes, even if I don't think about it. But, this last days, I got some ideas about it. Hope I'll make something good with.

un peu different.. et superbe.. le détail si precis des franges du rideau et un beau visage dissimulé, tel un voyeur

flo je rajoute, pardon, je tenais à le préciser, que j'utilise le mot voyeur, au sens noble du terme: celui qui voit, ou celui qui sait, ou bien on pourrait aussi parler de conscience .. être la conscience de .. Plusieurs interprétations possibles ...

envers C'est vrai que j'étais un peu dubitatif à la lecture du premier commentaire, quoique je présentisse qu'il y avait une éloge là-dessous.
Techniquement, pour les franges, ça n'a pas été facile : peu de lumière, diaph' à 1,4 en manuel, temps de pose assez long (mal au bras)... Mais à l'arrivée j'en suis content. Merci beaucoup.
