Woow King:-))

This remember me the years I worked with professional advertising photographers, they made everything possible (without PS), they ware masters with light and camera and very handy.

An idea I had, "rehanging battery" (for a sleeping drug):
a woman in blue/red colors should "superposed" on a battery, this all in a night atmosphere.
First he shot the woman in a tent with blue/red light, then we went with the back of his camera to an other place, where the battery was on a black background with many little holes for the stars. He used also some "vaseline"(?) for the "power" affect on battery and stars ... the result was perfect:-))
I had a lot of RESPECT for them:-))
(This was a simple one, from many other more complicated ideas, always with perfect result)

But!!!!
a some years later, many "had" to change to digital and editing programs, to survive in the market, which wasn't easy for them.
Now, most combine both: super light and camera work with perfect PP, to realize the ideas from the "crazy" AD's.

King Douglas  Yes, Ben, that's exactly how it was for me. However, I'm a big fan of Photoshop and images that are created in layers, masking, etc. I'm working hard on mastering Photoshop, just as I worked hard on the other things before Photoshop.

Thanks for the kind works, congratulations on your Silver status, and keep up your outstanding work.

Regards,

King
Ben Goossens  Thanks King:-)
surprised by the new color behind my name.

I wish you a lot of success and pleasure, with or without PS!!!
Because, I admire also the images of Dave Nitche, who doesn't need Photoshop to be surprising creative... and a lot of other "one shot" pictures on 1x.

Most remarkable. I can't even imagine how one goes about achieving this without post processing. This is the real magic here, no doubt.

Technical achievements aside, this is a beautiful image. I am guessing this is one of your all time favorites?
King Douglas  Thanks very much for the kind words, Yakov. This isn't particularly one of my all-time favorites as I tend to prefer photos of people, but it's a good example, I think, of what my competitors and I were doing in camera before Photoshop came along. There was a great deal of inventiveness and ingenuity at play.

Personally, I love Photoshop and what it can do, but it has put many friends out of work or forced them to remove their specialties from those areas most suited to Photoshop solutions.

King Douglas  Thanks, Earl...are you a working photographer yourself?
Earl A. Jones  Hi King, No, photography is just an enjoyable past time but I admire great professional photographers like yourself. I like your broad spectrum of subject matter. Regards, Earl
Wow.. you are not only a photographer, you are a magician as well! But thinking of it, the two goes hand in hand.. Well done, 10 points!

King Douglas  My first 10-pointer! Thanks Elisabeth. I gave a house guest a tour of your OE portfolio last night. She was speechless...could only make sounds of appreciation.
Thanks,

This serie is gorgeous King. It is so rare (perhaps unique) to discover this kind of real photographs on-line with such so interesting comments, coming from the author. Merci pour votre générosité King...
King Douglas  Thank you, Laurence. Much (or most) of my older, professional work appears to be very different from the majority of the styles one sees on OE. However, I appreciate photography of all types and look for beauty anywhere I can find it.
Sometimes other photographers like explanations of how my images were created and I'm happy to provide that.

It's magic :)
King Douglas  Thank you Martin. It's intended to pay homage to real magicians doing real magic, so if my images convey some sense of what the real magic trick might look like, then I have been successful

Totally mind-blowing series, this one being my favourite (although it's so hard to choose!) Your talent and creativity are amazing, King :)
King Douglas  Well, Daria, if you want to talk about talent and creativity...just look around OE (and don't forget to look in the mirror). I just do what I do.
Thanks very much,
King

King Douglas  Thanks, Thomas. I have taught my wife's cat to lie down and roll over. Really. The dove was easy by comparison.

You should give lessons, man. I'm amazed at your abilities. So varied. I am always surprised - you are so well rounded with your work. GOOD JOB
King Douglas  Judy,
I'm glad you've identified one of my strengths and weaknesses. I've always been interested in everything having to do with photography and have been something of a generalist, which is not such a good thing when trying to convince art directors that you are the world's foremost expert at something.
What's the phrase, Jack of all trades, master of none?

Thanks very much,
King

This is a triple exposure on two sets.
1. My assistant's hand with the cards, the single feather and the custom Dove of Hearts card (bottom left). The cards were arranged as you see, supported by slender black wires on the lens axis, extending through a piece of black velvet in the background. In addition, the cards are spray painted white as they descend, the better to blend with the flutter of the dove's wings.
2). The view camera was suspended on an armature (just hold your camera in your hand with your arm extended to your side at shoulder height). Attached to the camera was a sturdy bungee (elastic) cord. After the first exposure, I lifted the camera (it moves on an arc, like your arm), opened the shutter and dropped the camera. The movement and bounce of the camera created the blur and jiggly multiple exposure of the cards, intended to mimic fluttering.
3) A very tame magician's dove that I trained myself over a period of time to fly to his cage, which is just underneath her and to your right. With the shutter release in one hand, I gave the dove a little toss with the other hand and tried to catch her in the right place at the right time. This one turned out pretty good.

As a side note, all three of these images, original 4x5" transparencies, were stolen from my portfolio (along with the shot of the shovel that turns into a cello) while it was out for client review. Lucky me, I had backups, which you see here.
I love this one. You are so good.
King Douglas  Thanks, Angela. All together now...

Your creativity amazes and frustrates me! Awesome work once more - this being my favourite of the the 3 Illusion images! Dom
King Douglas  This is my favorite, too...mainly because of the dove, I think. Why would my creativity (as you say) frustrate you? You are an exceptionally fine and creative photographer already, and you are so young.
Thanks!
King
Dominic  Of course I am frustrated, this surely comes from seeing work that inspires, amazes and intrigues me. You know your craft King! Fantastic stuff!
