Awesome Idea And Exxelent Execution .

Marvelous and inspiring work King and a daring tight crop that works!
/Jörg
King Douglas  Thanks, Jörg. Perhaps you have learned from reading my earlier comments that this crop wasn't daring at all, but simply a necessity as the set itself was very narrow.
Jörg Hubrich  Actually I first learned that part now, after you mentioned it ;.
I also found the picture you posted in the forum which illustrates the shot - thanks! So ok, I will change my "daring crop" to "daring challenge - perfectly executed".

You do play with these models well...
King Douglas  Play is a good thing. I like to play (and I think you do, too.)
Thanks!
This is a great photograph. I was very puzzled by the thumbnail, and still took about a second to figure it out. Great!
King Douglas  Thank you, Thiago.

Congrats on screener choice. :)
King Douglas  How does screeners choice work? Why now and not earlier?

Thanks, Angela.

King
Angela Bacon-Kidwell  I think Jacob and Ralf decide who gets screeners choice but I'm not 100% sure. Sorry, no help.

I love this...I have hand sewn these bags before for a dance production. Still have some in the closet somewhere. I think I need to get them out again. A beautiufl image indeed.
King Douglas  Jennifer,
I have plenty of bags in the closet. What I don't have in the closet is more models like this one. :>)
Thanks,
King
That is awesome. I remember the seeing the performance of dancers using these "bags". Did you know the Riley's? Dale Riley and son Jeff Riley?
King Douglas  Thanks Angela.
Jeff Riley and I danced at Casa Manana in Fort Worth during the 1969 season (moon landing year). How do you know the Riley's?
Cheers,
K.
Angela Bacon-Kidwell  My mother took dance from Dale Riley growing up. And, I was with the Rileys for fourteen years. I took tap from Dale and Jazz from Jeff. Small world. Dance was a huge part of my life- I loved it and continued till I grew boobs! lol then it was all down hill for me. :)
King Douglas  Angela,
Breasts do have a reputation for going down hill, don't they?--although I've worked with some excellent female dancers who were large breasted. It's uncommon, though.

I emphasize "female dancers" above, because at my age and carrying a little extra weight, I'm getting a little heavy on top myself. :>)

So you are trained as a dancer...somehow I knew that. "Wishing to fly" reveals your awareness of your body, line and posture--dance skills.

WOW!!! One of the most seductive pieces of fabric I've ever seen...Beautiful!!!
King Douglas  Cowan,

You think this little b/w photo is seductive? You should have been there! She's wearing a "bag" of stretchable lycra in brilliant red. You'd like that version, which I would have posted if I could find it.
Thanks very much,
K.

Truly fantastic, King!
The idea is superb and execution is top notch as always :)
I'd leave a bit more space on the left.. IMVVHO :) but I guess if you cropped it so, it's supposed to be this way.
I love it!
King Douglas  Daria...I'd leave a bit more space on the left, too, if I could (see below).
This is a very old shot from my archives, never before scanned, printed or published. I also shot it in color but can't find that version. She's in a brilliant red lycra "bag" against a white background. I think you'd like the color version. If I find it, I'll upload it to the critique section.

Re cropping: The set was only 4-feet wide (that's a sheet of 4'x8' plexiglas suspended over the model's head) and this was shot with a wide-angle lens, so here wasn't much wiggle room (pardon the pun). Go here to see the set and the full-frame image:

Thanks!

King
Daria Endresen  I imagine the red colour version might be very effective. Would love to see it as well, so if you find it, please upload - I'd be very thankful :)
Also checked the full-frame image, so now I understand better the reasons for such crop.. Thanks! :)
King Douglas  Daria,
I found the color transparencies. There are actually three pretty good poses (including one about the same as this one) that I think I can put side-by-side into a single image that has a more traditional crop. It will look like three different people in red sacks, dancing together. I hope it works.
Daria Endresen  I'm sure it will :))
Looking forward to see it!

Great shot King, very nice. I like the contrast between the smooth lines of the body and the fabric and the harsh lighting/shadows and the strong pose. Love the use of the color in the lighting and fabric.
Why the rather tight crop? I would like to see a nudge more room for this performer on the sides. Maybe a little more on the right than on the left.
/Thomas
King Douglas  Thomas,
You have a keen analytical eye. Thanks for your comments.

(I once had a swetter that felt like that when it was coming of :) )
King Douglas  Carola,
I find your comment to be most provocative! I'm new here and am not yet familiar with your work. Your portfolio is FANTASTIC!
Thanks for the kind words,
K.
Carola Lundmark  I am sorry if you did find my comment provocative. That was absolutely not what I wanted it to sound like. I love the photo and just added some humor to my comment.(I am not very good in english)
Looking forward to see moore of your work. Very glad you like my work.
Carola
King Douglas  Carola,
I understood your humor and I was just making a joke in return when I said your comment was provocative. I'm sorry, too, if you misunderstood. Do you want me to explain "provocative"?
Thank you again,
King
Carola Lundmark  No we leave it like this :)

Waooo.. GREAT stuff! What a sculpture, what a motion, what a fantastic work! The tones, the light, the colours, it all ends up in a amazing piece of art!

PS i LOVE Ursulas comment, i must add! :O) DS
King Douglas  Elisabeth,
This is another photo that has been lying fallow in my archives. It has never been printed or published. I also shot it in color, but I don't know where the transparency is. She is in brilliant red against a white background.
Thanks very much,
K.

That's what I would call a human abstract!
Great stuff! Love the tonality and the lighting!
If it were my shot I would probably have tried to crop just a little less on the left, but still a fantastic piece.
All the best
Michael

King Douglas  Michael,
Thanks for the praise.

You win the prize for first to mention the crop. This set was only 4 feet wide and this was shot with a wide-angle lens, so there wasn't much wiggle room (pardon the pun). I didn't think this was important enough to take the time to extend the background in Photoshop.

I uploaded (without screening) the full image so you can see the set, but I don't see a way in the comment section to link to that photo.
