Remembering Peer Gynt
The Besseggen ridge is well known by Peer Gynt's furious reindeer-back ride in Henrik Ibsens drama of the same name.
The reason the two lakes have different colors lies in the fact that, while the lower one is filled with water coming down from the glaciers, the higher one is supplied from springs.

Wounderful photo.
The nature is indeed magnificent up there in Jotunheimen. There is a significent difference in height between the two lakes, a little bit hard se see in the photo. The blue lake, Bessvatn is 1374 meters above sealevel and Gjende, the green lake is 984 meers above sealevel.
Michael Jakesz  Thanks for your comment, willfred! Also thanks for adding the info about the different height. I remember it, but forgot to mention it in my description!
All the best

I am in awe of the clarity and detail you have achieved here Michael. Very impressive indeed, and a very good composition as well. Stunning is an overused term but this work is indeed stunning. Bravo.
Michael Jakesz  It appears, the older the picture, the more charming the compliments get as well :)
Thanks very much for your comment!

You did an amazing job on this my friend, the composition is excellent, the path of this kinda rocky bridge that separate the crystal clear water is an excellent way for us to follow the landscape. It guide us where you want us to look. An amazing work and a very talented photographer with simple equipement ! Excellent Job
Michael Jakesz  Thanks Xus, for your kind words, and also for the compliments!

I was supposed to hike there last August, but we were stopped by a snow storm, and a steady -10°C (+ wind, of course)... Seeing your photo makes me regret not having walked anyway :)
Michael Jakesz  Hi Alexandre, while this path and the view you enjoy while walking it are truly amazing, I wouldn't want to walk it in bad/snowy/stormy/wet weather. Should be easy enough to slip.
Cheers
Michael
P.S. BTW the picture was taken in August 2006
Alexandre Buisse  I don't doubt it, and my friends who decided to continue anyway told me they had the worst week of their life and didn't get to see much anyway, so...
I'll have to go back with better weather!

Oh my, this is so beautiful.. is it for real? ;).. very nice capture :)
Michael Jakesz  Thanks, Daria!
Trust me when I say this, the picture doesn't do this view justice, and as cheesy as it sounds,
Norway is awesome :-)
Daria Endresen  :)) very pleasant to hear ;).. shame on me for living in Norway and not visiting/taking pics of these gorgeous places, but at least now I know what to aim for :).. cheers :)

I walked here a few years ago but I wasn´t lucky to enjoy calm and beautiful weather like this.
Michael Jakesz  I'm sorry to hear that it wasn't as pleasant for you, but I would revisit this place anytime!
Thanks

This one is really beautiful and mighty but I would try to level the horizon and re-upload.
U
Michael Jakesz  Thanks Ulf, for the kind words!
Regarding the horizon, I measure all of my shots in photoshop, to verify the horizon is not tilted. Trust me, it is straight.
What might have happened is, that the clouds, that are hanging a bit further down in the right part of the picture, might have created the illusion of the horizon not being straight.
Cheers
Michael
