1st shot in a series of 3.

I should also add that this series will be shown in a gallery or two later this year. I'm so glad I shot this group of images. I thought about this for 3 years now and finally took a week to shoot them. I hope you all enjoy them.

Levels, USM, 1998 profile attached, spots cloned out. Done with 8 flashes, a chrome painted apple (fake), and a propane torch to bend the syringes.

Congrats on making it to the front page!

My first impression when I saw this was that it had to be a rendered image, I just didn't know that reality could look like this. Great job!

great Dave...very good...how did you make those syringes? are they made of glass?
Dave Nitsche  Yeah, they're glass. I just heated them up with a propane torch and bent them. I broke a bunch and these were so brittle they only lasted for 3 shots so I made a miniseries out of them. Thanks

Really one that does not at all require your name underneath to recognise your style... great one (again), you really are a master in this type of photography, love it.
Dave Nitsche  Johan you're very kind. Thanks and I'm glad I can be recognized. That's a huge compliment!!!!

I really appreciate the symbolism in your pictures, as well as the flawless execution!
Dave Nitsche  Hi Ralf. Thanks for looking 'into' the picture a bit. Conceptual work is strange stuff. It requires a lot from the viewer and sometimes makes them think more than they should have to. A lot of my images are in that realm. Sometimes I beat the viewer over the head with an idea but other times I let some room for viewer interpretation. I get a lot of "I don't get it" comments from people and that either means I've failed or they don't look deep enough.

Every once in a while I get a comment like Lars' and yours on my Cancer shot that really makes it all worth while. Again thanks for taking the time to look and think about them. I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate it.

Hi Dave!
Amazing idea and fantastically executed.
Keep 'em coming!
All the best
Michael
Dave Nitsche  Thanks Michael. I realized that I really love melting glass. I've got all sorts of ideas from it now. I broke 8 syringes to get 3 good ones. LOL
Viet-Tuan  Nooooo! How did you dare break 8 of those beautiful syringes? :D (Just kidding of course, no offense intended). Well, fortunateley, since the result is that good, I think you can be forgiven ^^
Cya around,
VTuan.
Dave Nitsche  LOL... thanks Vtan. Yeah, I was upset about the breakage but heck, I break so much stuff it's almost become 2nd nature to me. :-)
