Thanks again for so many kind words.

In fact most birds rest or sleep when are standing on one leg. Many theories are given. Most deal with heat energy savings. Also it is interesting to know that birds can maintain different temperature in different part of the legs. Highest at the top and lowest at the feet, so they do not have problems with loosing too much heat when standing on ice or snow ‘barefooted’.
