This has always been a favorit of mine. Great pet-image! Wondnderful expression (love that thin slit) and very balanced composition.

Congratulations on the "Screeners choice"!

peek-a-boo! This really is sooo cute but I agree with Angela about the SP.
Emily Bem  I'm glad you like this! :) About a SP. I have a feeling people are getting tired of seeing the same faces/models from me. :) I'm giving everyone a break...maybe it will bring back a little impact to my work for everyone. I wish I could just get new models, but things are too crazy on my end to do any "shopping", and quite frankly I'm shy about imposing ;)

Thanks again :)
Congrats of S.C. It is a great image.
I wish they (or Ya'll) would choose one of your sp. Makes no sense why one has not be choosen. Anyway, GReat job! I love those wiskers.
Emily Bem  Thanks so much, Angela! :))) I like those whiskers too..hehe! :)
Strong and Dominating stare. Sharp black and white here!

Great idea here Emily. My only remark should be that there are perhaps to much details on the veil, details that capture the look and are a bit distracting from the cat. Only my personal feeling... like always. Nevertheless an excellent shot !
Fernand
Emily Bem  You know, I was on the fence about that! I tried it with the curtain softened and was unsure about it. Maybe I will try again and see what I feel....thanks so much Fernand! :))))))
Fernand Hick  Emily, you can try to darken the veil after having added some grey tones in the white parts, then try with or without blurring. If you blur the veil, without changing the white parts of it, these white parts will capture the look further, that's not the result you hope....
All the best,
Fernand
Emily Bem  Wow...thanks for the tip!!! I will have to do some experimenting! :)

like a chamaeleon adjusting perfectly to its surroundings! great capture
Emily Bem  Thank you so much! :))))))
Great! I really like how you just photograph yourself and the world around you, but make it seem so magical.
Emily Bem  Magical??? Wow! I'm delighted you think so! :) I'm not in much of a position to travel the globe just yet, so my surroundings is all I have. I'm so glad you appreciate that.

Thanks, Mitchell!
Mitchell Kanashkevich  Yeah, "magical" is a good word for it. At least as I perceive it. This doesn't simply look like a cat, as it comes out from the dark, through the curtains it reminds me of some fairytale character who may just say a thing or two to the viewer. Most of your self portraits have a "surreal" quality, as if the person in the image is not a regular human, but posess some kinds of special powers:), something about it all that feels magical.
Emily Bem  You really do get it. I almost always try for a touch (or a bucket load..ha ha) of surreal. Thank you for taking the time to really look and comment on my work.....GREATLY appreciated. :)))))

oooh I really like this one...reminds me of that movie of Stephen King's..Cat's eye!! Great comp and how on earth did you get that kitty to sit like that? LOVE IT
Emily Bem  Thanks, Misty! I have never seen that movie, but I might just have to look into it! :)

Ok.. I usually don´t like kitty cat pics.. but.. Oh man, man! This is something else!! :) So cool! The way he(?) looks behind that curtain (obviously curtains are your favourite props at the moment ;)) and the way the whiskers catch the light.. Very nice!
I wonder.. what kind of mix did you use in channel mixer to convert this bw?
Emily Bem  I agree. :) A kitty pic has to have something special to interest me. As far as my favorite props go,....blah, blah, blah!!!! I didn't plan on using curtains for this shot... it just happened...ha ha!

I used Corel Paint Shop Pro XI(don't laugh). Corel was my first editing program. It was cheep and easy to get around. I'm just starting to learn how to use Photoshop 7 ( in all my spare time...LOL ).

Not too much done here. I sharpened, converted to BW, dodged and burned a bit and then used "clarify" on a low setting. The "clarity" filter can BUTCHER an image if used too heavily, but I think ,when used right, it can make a BW image stand out. I use it on all of mine. I hope that was helpful, Ilja! Thanks so much...I'm so happy you liked!!!

Emily Bem  Ha ha! Oh, no worries. Kitty won't outsmart the stalking photog....at least I hope not! LOL!

Thanks, Mal!
Mal Smart  that's what you think!.. I recon that the"Chab" was distracting you while the kitty made the move!...
Emily Bem  Ha ha! It might have been possible if the kitty hadn't eaten the Chab.
