Hey Heath, I really like the feel of this but was thinking how cool it would look next to your other shot of a similar field prior to harvest(Sorghum).

The juxtaposition of two images is really fascinating now that I have looked at them. Great stuff.
Heath Carney  Thanks Tracy, I actually had thought of that juxtaposition between this and the rich, lush green of the previous shot as well.

Post Apocalypse indeed.

I thought it might have been banana trees from C Larry but reading your comment I'm guessing it's suger cane ?

The processing does work very well in creating the feel of the title.

Nice one.
Heath Carney  Cheers Jeremy. Given the location, and the acres and acres of surghum around it, I think it's sorghum as well, but I'm not 100% sure.

Thanks for the positive votes everyone. One of the screening comments said that this photo was a "perfect example of a intriguing photo that desperately needs a description to be fully appreciated". So, here goes.

After driving through a really heavy storm yesterday, I stopped by this recently harvested field to take a break and photograph the storm clouds in the distance. I wandered into the field and, almost as an afterthought, held the camera down at my ankles and shot this scene blind (hence the lack of sharpness).

The original is actually quite grey and dull, so I generated an HDR from several exposures of the RAW file to get the post-apocalyptic feel. I also added a second layer with a slightly desaturated sky.
