Reminds me of Steve McCurry's famous portrait of the Afghan girl.Amongst all your pics i like this the most.
There is something out of context with the darker eye on the right side ,but given that probably was very hard to make to stand still, as they are at that age, this is an awesome piece of work.

This is so reminiscent of the wonderful National Geographic portrait of the girl with the green eyes. Although the redness of the lips is a little too enhanced for me, they don't seem naturally blush? Being a parent too I have big problems with the over-sexualisation of children in the world today. However, I know that was not your intention, but it still grates. The eyes are straight from the Emerald City though and very lovely.

Emily Bem Oh, I hate that too! Makeup on kids for the sake of enhancing their appearance is repulsive to me. I'm sorry those red lips came of that way....maybe I should have desaturated them a bit. I wanted their to be a surreal feel about the colour, but certainly did not want her to appear to have make up on. I think I will upload an improved version of this image. Good points! Much appreciated! :)

This reminds me of one of my all time favourite photos. The afghan girl that was on the front cover of National Geographic in 1985. this is a beautiful shot!

Beautifull intense portrait, Emily. This usage of color and contrast is really regognizable you. Would you be willing to write a short article in the forum, explaining what you do in Photoshop?

this has ALWAYS been one of my faves!! eyes are amazing, just like her mom's! just curious, since we both have the same cam, do you use portrait mode with flash or do you use manual settings?
