About me

Im a fine art, landscape & travel photographer from the North East of England with a passion for the outdoors, particularly the mountains and coasts and especially the more wild, rugged & remote areas. My hope is that this site will conveys at least a little of my passion...

My intention is never merely to create a photographic record of a place but to capture something of its essence & soul, to convey the mood of how it felt to be there at the precise moment the shutter was released and to create something interesting that will hopefully look beautiful hanging on a wall.

I work with Canon digital SLRs (currently a 5D MkII) and strive to and find it incredibly rewarding getting the image right (or as right as possible) in camera using a small selection of filters and careful metering. I keeping post processing to a minimum. Its not that I have anything against post processing or HDR and the like, I just prefer to be out in the mountains or down on the coast rather than sat behind a computer :-)
