Hello
What means free trial over now?
Isn't this community anymore free uploading 1 photo a week?
Thank you
Regards

What are the different levels of membership?
The different membership levels are free, basic, extra and premium. As a free member you can try out 1x. You are allowed to upload 10 photos in total, one per week. As a paying member there is no restriction on how many photos you can have in the gallery, just a weekly submission limit. Basic members have 5 upload slots every week, extra members 10 and pro members 20, which means you have many more chances of having photos published in the gallery.
As a basic member and above you get your own highly customizable photo homepage with unlimited uploads and complete control. This is a good compliment to your 1x portfolio since you and not the curators decide exactly which photos to display there. You can even choose to use your own URL, like http://yourname.com/. Have a look at some beautiful examples here: http://1x.com/homepage/
If you have the extra or pro membership, you can sell photos published on 1x.com as prints. All you have to do is upload the photos you want to sell in high resolution, we take care of the rest. Real photographic paper is exposed to lasers in high-end Lambda printers and chemically developed. This is the closest you will get to traditional dark room developing using digital technique. The quality is absolutely top class and we are co-operating with professional photo labs in the US and the EU, printing for photo exhibitions in galleries and museums.
All prints are color proofed first by an expert at 1x a second time at the photo lab and then further inspected after printing to ensure top notch quality. 1x handles marketing, payment and shipping of your prints, you just have to wait for the money. The photographer is entitled to 60% of the profit of each sales and you only have to sell 2 prints each year to pay for the membership.
With the pro membership it will be possible to sell limited edition prints and decide which sizes and prices to offer yourself. If you prefer, you can also do the printing and shipping yourself so you can easily sign the prints and decide exactly which materials to offer.
Paying members will end up closer to the top in the list of artists at 1x, which means that buyers are more likely to find your work. Pro members will end up even higher than basic and extra. Pro members also have a special pro-badge in our forum and in their profile page.

Hi Mike
I think this is still rather unclear in a way ( I know it may seem obvious). I understood that there was a maximum upload of 10 images for a free member but is it the for Critique OR Gallery? Then according to the Upgrade page it states that there is a limit of ONLY 3. Again is this Gallery? Personally I am still 'Free' but have submitted 5 images in total to the Gallery, just one accepted. Now then, did my last two get rejected just because I went over the 3 limit or would the system not allow me to submit any more than the allowance anyway?

I know you might say just cough up the money and then you'd know where you stood but I'm feeling my way through this at the moment and would like to be clear.

Hey,

Actually the faq is incorrect and the upgrade page correct at this point, maximum gallery submissions without a paid membership is 3 for new members. However basic membership is only $4/month, like a cup of coffee, and we are dependent on paid memberships to be able to run the site.

Cheers, Ralf

Roberto, doing a quick count of your successes,  it looks as if you achieved 7 successes out of 10 uploads !!!!!!!!!

If you become a paying member, at this scoring rate,  there is a good chance you will be a curator in 12 months and then you will get free membership :)

A no-brainer as they say in the USA

Congratulations...your work is very impressive :)

So does that mean that the images I submitted after the third were rejected because my limit was exceeded or did they go through and just did not fit the curators requirements? If they did go through for submission then the software needs changing to reject images after the limit is reached.

It depends on when you registered your account, the limit is 10 for older members and 3 for new members. Photos are never rejected because of a lack of slots, in that case it's simply not possible to upload.

Best, Ralf

No Jaime, no-one can delete their not selected pictures, regardless of their membership level. You cannot now upload more pictures to the curators without paying for a membership, but you can continue to participate in the forums, including uploading images to the critique forum and of course to comment on the pictures on the front page.
