But the movie is zero!

That´s what I mean with the ?????? I´m still trying to understand how a 3D computer generated movie has won such prize. Painting with light is now called photography. Are future photographers somebody spending his life in front of a computer instead of shooting? Are future actors cartoons instead of people? Avatars?

Well the Oscars.....but I was very happy to read that Christoph Waltz won - That was a really deserved one, one of the best plays I ever saw in a movie!

An American (in this case a handicapped marine) made by a destiny chance to take place of one of his enemies( neighbour in the case of Avatar) position and stand, then he turned against his people,( in the sense. of saying to his people ,your war is illegal and immoral) and that worth zero ?? I am so much confused .
it is about living peacefully together and understanding each other .

From my point of view 3-D artists must have a lot of skills in terms of perspektive, lighting, movement and so on. More skills than most photographers will ever have.

I´m not talking about the quality of the movie and the theme, I had a good time too. I´m talking about the fact that has won an Oscar for Best Photography beeing a mostly computer created picture.

Sergio, I'm not much surprised of that. Cinema is about fiction it goes along well with computer manipulation or synthesis. In the context of cinema, photography is about "images" not "photographs", so there is no relation with the tool by which a picture/scene has been obtained.

I think cinema is entering in the same muddy waters as photography. The difference between real light and created light. Photography has always been in this battle between pictorialism and realism. I too believe that a real 3D artist must have great photographic knowledge but I too consider that a painter needs this light knowledge and we call him painter, not photographer. Cartoons are paints, draws not photos. I always loved to study how great painters used light but is a different field. That´s what I´m talking about.
