Genuine Fractals in Windows 7
Posted 2 years ago
Hi, anyone here using Genuine Fractals Professional edition in Windows 7 64 bit pro?
I thought someone here mentioned using it with no problems. Mine is working only in Express mode. Works well for magnification, but the tiling and all the other functions will not work.
The message is something like "in data string not valid". I tried 16 bit and 8 bit tiff, no difference. I really need this to work as soon as possible for printing a very large project.
I find no solution on onOne's website. I tried to re-install. No difference. Tried searching on the net, found nothing.

hi Lars, sorry I can't help you with windows, but since you use genuine fractals.....I've been considering purchasing it. How much of an enlargement do you do? are the large sizes intended for sale?

sorry it's off topic, i know

thanks

I use Genuine Fractals 5, can't see much difference on the screen when comparing to Photoshop's bicubic method, prints look great even for 1,000% area-wise (or 316% linear-wise) enlargement (say upsampling from 5 to 50 megapixels).

Strange to ear it doesn't work for Windows 7:-((

Lars,
If it could help, there's:
AlienSkin Blow-up 2.0.3
or
PhotoZoom Pro (benvista)
I never tried them and use Genuine Fractal PrintPro 5 on Mac, without problems.

Best regards,
Ben

It must be some win 7 bug. Hopefully it will be resolved. I got a reply from their customer service that stated it was caused by not using full numbers of pixels. It is not the problem. Tried all that. the size increasing works fine. That means the main program. But I bought the pro version, paid a lot extra for functions like tiling and a lot more. That part don't work.

No worry about the topic. I intend to use it for sale. The highest enlargement I've used so far is 600% and it looks fantastic, and it is better than Photoshop does!
The one I work on now is a 3.2m wide enlargement from my D300. An underwater shot with some dark areas which easily will look murky and grainy on enlargement. It looks fantastic, but had to take it down to 8bit due to file size.

If anybody want to purchase it, go for the 30 days trial first to make sure it works ok. I didn't take the time for trial, so...

So, nobody here with the combination of cs3/win 7 64 and Genuine Fractals pro?
Any with cs4 /win 7 and gf pro?
I'm thinking of upgrading ps anyway, but as cs5 seems to be around the corner I wanted to wait a little. But if I could get gf to work in cs4 it might be worth a cs4 upgrade.

I use onOne Genuine Fractals 5 with Adobe Photoshop CS4 on Windows XP, it works fine though I couldn't make the onOne menu appear in the Photoshop (but there is other way how to access the plug-in).

The menu looks ok at my system, and also all looks right in the automate menu. It just don't work properly..

This bug is fixed now, and the program is officially supporting win 7 too.
