My New 292 USD Baby
Posted 2 years ago
In very good condition:

- Mamiya 645 Pro TL
- 120 Film Back
- Waist Level Finder
- Manual Hand Crank (don't want a motor - too heavy)
- Mamiya Sekor C/N 55 mm lens
- Type E Ranger Finer/Split Prism Focus Screen

Really wanted the 35mm - but apart from being super expensive there seems to be nothing shorter than 55mm here in Beijing.

I plan to get a 135mm panao back and finder mask as well.... prolly won't ever get a metered finder as I got this camera for the express purpose of doing medium format wide angle street shots without having to raise the camera to my head and also 135mm double frame pano's, My hot shoe sekor light meter will suffice. I even got some more rolls of Tri-X. I think that from what all I know now of developing and shooting and different films and filters and pul and push and developers and MY TASTE. That TRI-X in D76 1:1 in medium format - for environmental/urban landscape shots - will look just damn nice. Also plan to do some long exposure stuff too with ND filters and F22/32. Try and get some weird takes on the bustle of city life.

And of course. IR. ;-)

Did I mention only 292 USD? ;-) And I traded in my mint, collectable Nikon FG in Silver with a 50 AIS E lens - so I only had to pay 100 USD out of my own pocket today.

I plan to make a video of this place and upload it so you can all salivate - Robert knows what it is like now and is planning a trip back to Beijing just to spend a day at this camera meat market.

So how do you know it's the real deal? - I have two staff from China and they say everything is fake, including milk and eggs - that one still throws me. :))

Guanxi.

The man I bought from (a registered dealer) is good friends with my film lady who I do everything on account for her and settle when I can make it out there.

She personally introduced me to him. He won't screw me because it is the same as screwing her.

so why did you go for the Pro TL - that thing is a beast - not that there's a small Mamiya, but the 645 af or ae is smaller, or even the 7 rangefinder

Au contrare - it is TINY!

The RB/RZ are huge. It looks smaller than the mamiya 7 even.

The ae is just a change of finders - which I did not take - as I want small and waist level.

The 645e is smallest and nice and cute and cheap and light.. a great recommendation. But it has a fixed finder and I really want waist level.....

It is about the same size in volume as an F100 + lens... but for sure much lighter....

oh ok - I guess I was thinking about the RZ - was at a high end photo store last night - three levels of pure joy and was actually looking at the mamiya's - tempted as hell but there's no way I would even find the pricing you got in Toronto - really interested in the 645afd. Saw at B&H and 645afdIII kit with 22mp digital back for $7,500 US - would need to sell all my Nikon stuff for that :))) Oh well, just dream about it for now

Try the 645e. It is about 375 USD around the place in mint condition with an 80 2.8 les. You can't change the back or the finder - but it takes all of the 645 lenses ever made. It has AE mode too...as well as manual. And is very small and light. Shoot some film and kill 2 birds with one stone... medium format perspective and look and film.

The RZ/RB's are huge! But they are also 6x7 and 6x9 - so bigger negs...

Nup online......

Don't forget the e in 645e - will make a major difference in any google or ebay search....thinking of a polaroid back now too - seeing as fuji just started a nice new line of instant print film to replace the evaporation of polaroid...
