For 400 USD which medium format?

One of the point and shoot Fuji GA645 models?

Or the all in one Mamiya 645e?

The later I can change lenses. The former I can pocket (sorta). The latter gets me a longer focal length with a bigger aperture as standard. The former had auto wind and advance and rewind (don't care about AF).

I love my agfa folder and it makes great images. But it is only good for day time due to the need to zone focus. I am enjoying my night shooting recently (even though I keep getting rejected ;-) ) and want some thing lets me focus easier - be it TTL on the mamiya or AF on the Fuji....

Oh temptress of nice cameras for so little....

Pentax 645 or 67. Large selection of great, affordable lenses.

A yashica mat 124 is very cheap (125 euro's) and has a fixed 80mm 1/f=3.5 lens, a huge 6 by 6 cm 'view finder' and a very silent shutter.
The downside is that it is the size of a brick and weighs about 1.3 kg.

Just read the superlight remark...forget the yashica :)

Waist level finder is the only draw back that I can see to the mamiya..... yes modularity and metal is nice... but that adds up in weight....

I think a Lecia or FM2/3 etc is the largest one can go with all metal bodies before it defeats the purpose of 135 format. For 120 format they seem to never have cared about weight with the exception of the folders.

Bronica RF645..... light and all quality

checked them out - all portrait format (like the fuji) and 800 USD on average... for me - I'd rather spend the 2K on a mamiya 7. I am very price inelastic to a point and then I just don't settle. Poor people pay twice - hence why they are poor. ;-)

Really trying to stick to 400USD. Which equates to approx 3000 RMB. Which is within my budget if I don't live like an expat for a month and live more down to earth. Then I don't need to ask the woman for permission.

No. I am not the master of my own domain. :-S

Oh man - here we go.

Why only make 5000 of these?

A coupled range finder, modern medium format folder would sell like hot cakes!

How about an old two eyed one. I had a Rollei once. Zeiss planar optics and all. And they are lightweight too. 6x6 square format, crop when you come home, and no need to angle the cam when shooting.

Rollei? Expensive for their TLR's... even the rolleicords...

I got one last week. Buit about 1954-1956. You nearly do not hear the shutter. But the ground glass screen is very dark.

I shot a testroll and will see, was happens.

Actually im not sure where you get your prices from Richie but i paid US$500 for my Bronica with Zenzanon 65/4..... almost new in super mint condition, original boxes and documents.

One thing i do know is in Moscow its at least 10-20% more expensive than most places.
