I use medium format cameras at many time, but never have a hasselblad, but i think is easy, Carol, just do fine tuning focusing and it will be sharp. And you must have the viewfinder correct calibrated in dioptrys to your own eyes, that is important. If you have a chest focusing screen is not so easy to do fine focusing, is why i use allways pentaprism viewfinders with my mamiyas. :)

Oh Hasselblad. I get an orgasm when I hear this word.

My lovely neighbor is an Ex-photographer. He is 86 years old and has a professional hasselblad. He hasn't used it for over ten years. I don't know how I can get that camera. His wife died a few months ago. Hmm, I should be more kind with him. I didn't see him since his wife is dead....

I can give you tips, if I become the camera ;-)

Haha....No I did not! But I know that Nietzsche got to know Dostoevsky with this book.

Okay, I just bought it from Amazon 58 seconds ago.

Just go visiting! Don't wait! Nothing to loose.. Go get it! You have a gun??

I sold my Hasselblad a few years ago. I miss it, but I don't know if I would have used it if I had it. It might just be standing there together wit my monster Sinar, nice to look at but very little used..
I had 40mm, 50mm, 80mm and 150mm. I never understood the problems of opening up the aperture for quality reasons, it just came out perfect (sorry, it don't arrange and compose for you, actually don't do anything for you except delivering what you ask for).
I actually respected old Carl Zeiss more than Victor Hasselblad for the results, but anyway the combination worked very well.

Sorry, didn't really reply to the post. I have no experience with the SWC. I just want to congratulate you with getting your hands on an excellent camera!

No, I don't. But I have pipes to smoke and books to read to kill the time. He is 86 ;-)

Meanwhile I'll read "Crime and Punishment"...

Isn't the SWC without a through the lens finder? Is it not ONLY zone focusing as it is really designed for tri pod use and architecture?

Yes, but there is a special accessory (interchangeble back) for this purpose.

Like a ground glass thing that you can mount, focus with a loupe and then switch on the film back?

Mamiyas have a magnifier loupe to put over the waist level finder, and that helps very much in fine focusing, Hasselblad have that accessory ?

So should I get a Fuji GA645 then?

Posted 2 years ago
Richard have a look at the CONTAX 645 as well

Yes.

mamiya 645E seems to be going also for 400 USD or there abouts in good condition with a 80/2.8 lens...

I really have no desire for an AF camera EVER again.

Never heard of this special accessory for the SWC, it is zone focusing as Richard said. With respect to the issue of getting the ^photo sharp, I guess this camera is mainly made to be used in hyperfocal, no ? I use a 500CM and dream about the SWC....argghhhhhhhh !

The SWC is so small and looks so sexy. No mirror box, etc.

I could use it for street no worries and I am quite practised now at zone focus. You wouldn't be using this camera for shallow depth of field and picking out one subject unless you had a ranger finder as well....
