New hot spot for architectural and night shooters !
Posted 2 years ago
Just want to introduce a new upcoming hot spot for all lovers of architecture and night photography.
The old 120 m tall skyscraper from pharma company Bayer in Leverkusen has been transformed into the biggest Mediasculpture worldwide.
18000 m² of animated facade.
( our company did all the cladding there - and yes, I'm proud of it :-)
The official opening will be by end of October, but I would like to share with you now a video of the first test runs.
Have a look and gape, it's absolutely fantastic !

Wow.. incredible, really! You should be proud. I have to buy a bottle of Bayer aspirin.. they're going to need help with the electrical bills!

the animation is nice, but the building is very very boring. there are much better buildings for example nightshots instead of this one.

You, are right if you see the building as a stand-alone one - the shape is simply rectangular - as most of the skyscrapers from the 50's.
But if you see it in context with the surrounding HQ from Bayer which was finished in 2002 by Murphy&Jahn from Chicago there will be nice shapes and perspectives.
You may have a look here :

Interesting idea Thomas. But is it allowed to take pictures within the Bayer plant?
The Bayer Hochhaus is quite familiar to me (also as a meeting place). So if you would organize some tour around (as Peter suggested) , I am interested (Antwerp is not too far from Leverkusen)

Leverkusen is a long bike ride away, especially at night. Thomas, what does the building look like during the day, naff steel? Reflective? I would be interested in a little walkabout. :)

@ Jef and Peter :
I would try to get permission once the installation is completed and opened.
@ Alex :
The building is cladded with stainless steel wire meshes providing very nice reflections during daylight, but the hihlight is the illumination during night, of course.
