Nikon 18-105 VR

This lens confuses me. Anything I shoot up close up is very sharp. Great lens for tight shots unless you are less than 2 feet away from the subject.

However, any landscape shot I take with it comes out soft. I have to sharpen in PS every time. Doesn't matter how narrow the aperture, everything is soft in landscape shots.

Anyone else have this issue with this lens? I don't think it's atmospheric conditions such as humidity.

If using a tripod for landscapes then you may need to turn the VR off. I use Canon and this is the case with IS. Just a thought.

I'll experiment with it. Thanks for the suggestion.

I use it, can't say I've had this problem. It's an excellent lens, I find =)

Are you talking about the resultant raw file or jpeg. I say this 'cuz, if jpeg, it can depend on the camera settings, otherwise, in raw file can depend on the default settings of your carmera raw or lightroom.

I make this comment because I don't find this problem with my lens and it's the one I ise most.

I have the same lens and been having the same problem. No matter how narrow the aperture, or how much light available, it does come out soft. However I never tried it without the VR, I sure will and post back.

Hi,

I have the same problem. When I shoot without tripod with VR with safe time and f/11 on 100 % I see that image is soft. I detect it when I upload some photos to Alamy and was rejected for soft.
