I am a retired lecturer in Art Gallery and Museum Studies. My teaching and research focused especially on the crafts and design. I learned something about photographic techniques through needing to photograph museum architecture and interiors, and artefacts of various kinds for lectures.

Since retiring I have taken up macro photography as a hobby, inspired by a visit to New Zealand ( my profile picture was taken there at the Fox Glacier ). Currently, my subject matter is chiefly flowers. Flowers appeal to me particularly because of the forms, textures, patterns and colours you can find in what have been called their ` inner landscapes ' - the centres where an extraordinary variety of structures may be found which enable plants to flourish and reproduce.

I hope to extend the range of my work by learning on this site.
