About me
At the end of 2009 I completed my BSc (Hons) in Marine Biology at the University of Cape Town which involved identifying novel behaviours in several species of pelagic goose barnacles found off the coast of South Africa. I then decided to go in search of fresh perspectives and backpacked my way up through East Africa, eventually ending up in Zanzibar where I worked at a turtle conservation pond for a few months.

I am currently on Marion Island in the sub-Antarctic and will be here for a year. My work involves monitoring ongoing study colonies of several bird species on the island as well as collecting data for my Masters thesis on the foraging ecology and diving behaviour of macaroni and rockhopper penguins.

I'd like to dedicate my life to increasing the general public's awareness of the natural world through photographs and short stories.

'Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. There is symbolic as well as actual beauty in the migration of the birds, the ebb and flow of the tides, the folded bud ready for the spring. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature - the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after the winter.' - Rachel Carson (1907-1964)
