About me
I was recently interviewed on the most important Italian site about photography
I have been subjected to several questions that I have truly made ??naked ritarsciverla here I think is the best way to introduce myself. :)

1) Manuel at what age did you start taking pictures?

Exactly four years ago, in parallel to the entry photo4u.
What is most 'curious and who can make me smile is still the way I approached the photo. Let's say that it 'happened almost by chance, trying to lend a hand to his girlfriend of the time in his dream of becoming a professional photographer. Well, now she is anything but professional and I entered myself! Indeed, I take this opportunity to thank you publicly now!
I remember that then I stole away the picture completely and literally, so as to leave his studies in engineering from a short-term tests. I started to study photography with the same tenacity and passion with which I was preparing to take exams at university. A study really manic, completely self-taught, definitely very technical and detailed design of all components of modern cameras. Study that allowed me to establish the limits and even overcome them.

2) What struck you most in the early days of your photographic adventure and what you now that inevitably affects your wealth of knowledge has changed?

Good question this' cause it happens just at a time when very few things can still hit me really. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I can not get more 'to help but refer to a reverse engineer any photo I happen to observe, and then' become quite easy for me to snatch its secrets, but this has no negative impact on my professional growth, indeed, can spur more and more 'in the search for new or at least of the least seen.
When I was at the beginning, of course, everything I hit, everything was new and was still a wonderful discovery!

3) How important are the other arts in relation to photography? Many of your shots are the dance.

In my opinion there is' a strong connection between photography and all other kinds of art.
I, as a photographer, I can not get more 'to watch a movie in peace, for example, if after reverse engineering in the past even the movie set, or to admire a painting without having studied composition and type of lighting used or listen to music and watch music videos agreements and failing to transform images into photographs.
In short, every art and 'a large container of ideas, suggestions, stimuli.
Between dance and photography there is an unbreakable bond. If the posture, technique, expression of the dancer are not at the top are difficult to pull off a good photograph, and of course this applies also to the contrary, if there is no technical knowledge, skills, photographic skills and desire to want to move to do, even executed to perfection by a step does not go out a good picture.
The perfect shot and dance 'and then the combination of technique and expressiveness by both the dancer from the photographer.

4) The kind that is more congenial to the photo studio is definitely. How do you relate to it and what do you think of other types of photography?

According to my view there are two main strands of thought on which to build.
The first is the total light of the ad hoc creation, management and complete control of its sources. The second the light management already 'on the scene.
Personally I am for total control of light and detailed. As a result, are much more oriented towards the photo studio, still life, portrait but I like many kind reports and macros. What attracts me is definitely not the landscape, with all due respect for those who loves this kind instead. Matters of taste ... we say that personally I am more 'attracted to genres in which the imagination and originality often make the difference.

5) Everyone could see your latest shots that combine a clever use of technology to a very strong emotional component. What inspired you to create this type of photo and what you thought you'd get at first?

From the beginning I always tried to move back with my photos. I experimented with panning of particular games sull'inseguimento the rotation of the subject, retrozoommate to make the dynamic and static dynamic the static, horizontal displacement of the machine with the static subject or in the opposite direction to the direction of movement of the lens. The idea was born like that, from this last new trial. I knew from the beginning of what I had to work and what I would have to wait but I was pleasantly surprised by the sharpness of the general result that far exceeded all my expectations! Question of reverb, creating a room completely cleared mainly black and with the right aperture and ISO settings and a few other tricks.

6) Do you want to talk a little about 'the technical aspect of their implementation?

The initial step was to procure a suitable space (400sqm seemed sufficient to start) then I worked to build a proper set / stage. I started with the construction of the backdrop, flooring, door of the projectors, the U.S. etc. .. I studied and studied every detail, providing first unaware of each window or slot that could shed light into the interior not created by me. Full control of artificial lighting (either continuous or flash) was decisive.
The instrumentation used is of course varied depending on the type of lighting that pretended to have on any type of photo.
I used a Nikon D700 and a Nikon D300. I've used both, sometimes simultaneously, in order to overcome the limits of a single machine and still get one final shot without duplication, photo montages and much more.
I also used a Nikon 24-70 2.8 lens, 2 SB-900, 1 SB-800, 2 SB 600, transmitters and receivers (pixels), a wireless remote, and a dozen different stands of special lamps.
As I said, each picture has its own set of lights that flash or continuous depending on the type of effect that I wanted to get on the dancer: sometimes lighting thread, sometimes more diffuse lighting. The Flash were strictly regulated in the manual (never to handle the power of the flash to TTL or machine, or radio controls in this type of photos!).
Starve to explain without having to hand the element that makes the difference would not make sense. Broadly speaking, however, can explain the technique used by an American photographer I do not have to disclose problems, but the premise that the end result and 'visibly less!
White balance on the continuous light and go to gel on flash to obtain the balance of continuous light and flash that you want.
Time variable. ISO and aperture settings vary depending on what you want. Power of the flash also variable.
The Parable of the flash variable. According to the method of work of this photographer, setting the bulb and the second curtain flash, the game is done.

7) I know that lately you've experienced this kind of shots without using flash.

Yes, I managed to get the same results without the help of additional flash. A real breakthrough for me!
And I also mean the same results without the use of any strobe flash.
All completely in continuous light!
This allows me to get the same results (maybe a little 'digital noise in more being forced to use slightly higher ISO values) at any stage during any kind of show.
Very satisfying (for me and for them) use this technique on any international artists during their every performance.
With the huge advantage of being photographed dancers in their moments of maximum expressiveness and technical ... then the result will be more natural in a photo studio.

8) What are your current limits of photography in general and what are the boundaries that would be great to cross?

If I had been asked this question only a month ago I think I would have written a novel, but right now, I prefer to focus only on the limits (which currently do not see it) of my discovery, which for me was sensational and was able to opened my eyes to a world totally new and unknown.

9) What goals do you aim for the foreseeable future?

For the moment I'm experimenting with two other techniques. One is the black light, combined with continuous light and flash, the other relates to a technique of using light projection.
Are being tested and for now I'm getting good results!
As soon as I feel ready to be the first to ask where criticism and advice!

10) Manuel you healthy to let a little 'Space for a free account

Well, that adding, say that for me photography is all about is perhaps an understatement.
I come from a statement of all technical and I used to see everything in a very schematic. Through photography these mindsets have gradually crumbling, giving way to a broader, more flexible and soft in the world who live around me. A real godsend that has managed to change my life and how to relate to it.
Through photography I started to express and exorcise all my fears, my doubts, my doubts, a real therapy that has led me to be, I believe, a better man!
I love my job and I get the satisfaction that satisfies me completely! Nothing more beautiful.
