My name is Dmitry Kiyatkin. I was born in the U.S.S.R.. I remember my father developing B&W film and and printing photos in our bathroom at night. We moved to Montreal, Canada in the early 1990s and, soon after, to the U.S.. I started taking pictures in high school and became more serious in college. I briefly considered a career in photojournalism, but ultimately choose a different career path. Due to my other commitments, I took a break from photography from 2000 to 2008. Now I am slowly testing out the photographic waters once again.

Through my photographs, I am want to tell stories and evoke an emotional response in the viewers. I have only a modest talent for creating works of high esthetic value, so I try to compensate for that in other ways to create compelling images. I am currently interested in documentary, street, sport, and portrait photography.
