About me
I have had an interest in photography since I was about 16. I began teaching myself the fundamentals on my first DSLR, a Canon EOS-400D. I developed a huge passion for photography which saw me push myself further. I decided to ditch the digital camera for a while, and practiced more and more on film. This was a huge advantage. I do not believe that digital is better to learn on - it is just more convenient. Deciding to practice on film taught me to take less photos and not 'spray and pray', but to push myself further with each frame as I didn't know 100% if i had 'the shot' for good yet.

After having used film for about 12 months and having built a solid foundation, I went back to digital and purchased my current cameras.

Since then, I have worked in nightclubs as a photographer, photographed bands and live musical performances for magazines, and more recently I have been associated with MarathonPhotos.com photographing triathlons, marathons and cycling events.

Along with these, I am now pursuing a career in documentary/photojournalism photography which I know will be an exciting time for me, and a great place to keep on learning!

Interests
Photographically, I love PJ. I don't really have a taste for mainstream media or tabloids; my goal is to become a war photographer for Time Magazine, or at least be a contributor to the publication.

Outside of photography, I enjoy listening to music, going to bars, and spending time with my girlfriend, Claire - who also enjoys photography. In my spare time, I like to get out and photograph the day-to-day events that are presented to us every time we walk out the door. As Jay Maisel said "If you are out there shooting, things will happen for you. If you?re not out there, you?ll only hear about it."
Inspiration
I like to get a lot of visual inspiration from amazing photographers such as James Nachtwey, Trent Parke and Steve McCurry. I am also lucky enough to know a National Geographic photographer, Jason Edwards, who gives me motivation and direction on how to achieve my goals.
