About me

I was born in Salerno, Italy, in 1960.
At the age of 16 I was introduced to the beauty of photographic art by an uncle who was an advanced amateur. One year later I was awarded a prize for producing a long essay on the chemical and physical aspects of photography.
During those years, while at high school, I started using a wooden self-built enlarger and worked as free-lance photographer, mainly developing and printing B&W photographs, taking portraits and photos of local events, to support my hobby.
In the meantime I enrolled to study Medicine.
Despite full time commitment towards my studies and my profession, I have always kept my interest in photography alive.
For a while I have been experimenting with alternative techniques (multiple solarizations, tone separation, use of atypical films, cyanograms, gum bicromate, etc). In the 1980s I had my first images of historical buildings published.
Currently, I use a digital SLR for its immediacy (although I have not abandoned film photography).
